Absorption
A Sound Experience
An exploration of one’s own sound, Absorption will explore the relationship between sound and the space that it absorbs. Highlighting the common sound that is often filtered through the ear as background noise, Absorption intends to isolate the individual viewer making them aware of there self and what often goes unnoticed.

17-21 May, Breanna Tepper, 'I Want Facial Hair'

...After an extensive conversation on beards and facial hair I dreamt that it was ‘cool’ and ‘popular’ for a girl to have one. The only problem was that I could not grow one and was considered an outcast amongst my group of friends whom all maintained full and healthy facial hair. I Want Facial Hair questions conformative behaviour amongst society and individual social groups. Trends, what is popular and what is cool. If hairy chins became ‘popular’ would woman go to the extent of hair implants? By using real human hair an element of grotesqueness is also obtained, coinciding with a personal phobia of others hair.

10-12 May, Katherine Pigott and Magdalene Lai, 'Lost Illusions'

Encapsulating the journey from childhood Lost Illusions focuses on the vunerability and change inherent in the process. Understanding who we are, the world we live in, how our perceptions develop and the struggle to reconcile a new adult perspective with the childs experience. Katherine and Magdalene both work with interweaving themselves, personal stories behind each work, which at times is only and breifly explained in poetry.

10-14 May, Caroline Webb, 'Machines Apart'
Opening Night, Tuesday May 11th 5-7PM, Link Wall Gallery - Welcome!
‘Machines Apart’ is a series of paintings that depict a machines aesthetic, focusing in on the sewing machine and a computer sound card. It involves the movement of the foot and needle, before introducing the irony of a soundcard interplaying with the sewing machine. ‘Machines Apart’ is a constant inquiry into the abstraction of these images, the taking away and the simplification. These ideas are explored through oil on canvas and watercolour on paper.

‘Looks Can Be Deceiving’ explores the personal relationship that we have within our selves and others in our society. Through the research of animals in their own habitat and environment, a similarity can be formed within a human’s own social context. ‘Looks Can Be Deceiving’ Addresses issues of self-identity in our ever demanding and changing commercialized environments. As well as the pressure placed on us to stay our true self within or not. This is made through the medium of litho plates, and relief woodcuts, done in bright inks on soft papers.

The exhibition focuses on the blurring of the 'inbetween' state of life and death. The 'inbetween' state is the blur of feelings that beings experience on the verge of life and death: confusion, loss and rejection.
Emma Fay expresses this state through painting with the use of chiaroscuro and partial naturalistic representation.

A spectrum of the visual and the thematic filled with the eager anticipation of simply wanting to lock everything we see into a physical image.
These images create the illusion of a slight colour spectrum and similarly also span a spectrum of different areas of our world - the interiors, the exteriors and the abstract.

"Imagine life without sex. Sounds dull, right? Imagine life without the need for sex.
There are only possibilities.
See the men who are making real changes in their lives. Despite having been motivated by a great variety of concerns, they have all arrived at the same emancipatory action. Leaving behind the petty animalism of a gendered, sex-driven society, these men are shaping a utopia of focused energies by removing frustration at its source. The modern man is the eunuch. Their moment has been captured in portraits for this exhibition."
